When A Sign Becomes A, Uh, Sign?
An often overlooked aspect of transitioning from an all-consuming career to managing your own time is mental health. It sounds easy, but mental engagement takes effort – and constant vigilance.
One day in late 2023, as I exited I-575 on the way back to my home in my new state of Georgia, I noticed a small, blue-and-white highway sign on the exit ramp.
It read, “Funk Museum.”
I almost swerved off the road. “Funk museum? Near me? I knew this was a great move!” I thought excitedly as I drove home.
Visions of a pulsing, thumping museum of funk with exhibits on Parliament Funkadelic, the Isley Brothers and Cameo filled my head. Earth, Wind & Fire? Rick James? What else might they have, I wondered.
