Not a lot of things surprise me. That’s the benefit and curse of being an overthinker.

In the late 70s I was surprised as a teen when the roof of our house caught fire due to chimney buildup, and we had to flee to the street (we rebuilt).

In 2002, my wife surprised me when she called me while I was on a business trip and told me she had found our new house. I was unaware we were looking for one (we moved, of course).

Recently, I was surprised at how much I liked the recent Pee-Wee Herman documentary (HBO). It was a thoughtful piece that introduced me to a talented and interesting performer (I was sad afterward).

And now, I’ve been surprised at how challenging it has been to get the GoFundMe I posted for Save the Horses off the ground. I had never posted a GFM before, but I assumed we would hit $10,000 pretty quickly.

Instead, more than 3 weeks in, we are stuck at $3,200. And $500 of that …
