Seriously, Though - Why Are Teens Like That?
We were all teenagers once. I’m pretty sure I was a teenager, because my mom said I was one when I was 8 or 9.
Even so, I’m puzzled by behaviors of many teens, heck many people under 25, today.
It’s not just their social media complaints, which alternate endlessly between “I need attention!” and “Stop giving me attention!” It’s their actions. Or, often, lack of actions.
Take yesterday morning. I was about halfway through my 90-minute hay circuit at Save the Horses when a teenager entered the main gate, and walked up the hill headed toward me.
I had never seen him before, and he could have been anywhere from 16 to 20. But he was wearing work gloves. It isn’t unusual for new volunteers to suddenly appear on the farm, or for people of all ages who were fulfilling community service obligations to roll in halfway through a shift. I wasn’t surprised.
