Money, The Exciting Conclusion
Last week I had almost finished a detailed, lengthy substack article to finish up the series on how we saved money to prepare for our post career lives (reader question!), and then Warren Buffet said the following midweek in an article in Yahoo! Finance:
“Do not save what is left after spending, but spend what is left after saving.”
Dammit, Warren Buffet. I guess that’s why you’re a billionaire and I just wasted three hours.
While I was deep-thinking bullet points with what I hoped would be words of financial wisdom, Buffet captured the essence of everything I had written – in one sentence.
The gist of my draft substack article said the same thing, but when I read Buffet’s quote I recognized I had skipped over the key point entirely.
