Journalism is dying, IMO. But for a long time, it was glorious to be a reporter. You made your living chasing down stories while proudly displaying your “MEDIA” badge, hoping that, one day, you might go to jail to protect your sources.

I knew I wanted to be a newspaper reporter since about 8th grade. When I landed a job as a beat reporter for the Potomac News (Woodbridge, VA) right out of college, I was thrilled.
