Last week, I had a driving epiphany.
It came not from a need for speed, but instead from a determined focus on precisely when the speed limit changed on the road I was traveling.
As I trundled along in my little Mazda, third in a line of five cars trailing a silver Lexus traveling mostly between 35-40 mph in a posted 45 mph speed limit (yes, it was THAT road … see my earlier substacks #66, #67 and #71), I watched for the moment when the speed limit suddenly dropped to 35 mph for a brief bit.
Because I had noticed something.
