The Smirk

Colin Gillis was laid to rest on Dec. 23, 2025. I wasn’t able to attend the mass in Colorado, two days before Christmas. I heard later that many touching stories were told of Colin and his unique perspective on life.

Someone sent out a video of people sharing some of those stories at an open house after the funeral. They were vintage Colin Gillis anecdotes, and Jim Stevens, former VP HR at Ball who worked with Colin for years, summed it up nicely in the video: “Colin died too young, but he lived a full life.”

I wish I could have heard it all.

Instead, what I keep seeing in my mind is The Smirk.
