#42: Deep Thoughts: Artificial Intelligence
AI Is About to Rewrite A Basic Social Contract
Last week, stories finally started popping up noting that artificial intelligence is not, in fact, simply a new tool for existing workers to use, like computers.
It’s going to replace those workers.
It took a while, but the media are catching on. I’ve been working with AI tools for a couple of years, and it was clear pretty quickly that once AI improves its accuracy (and it is doing so faster than you think), wide swaths of professions will be wiped out.
And unlike computers, which needed to be manufactured, assembled, programmed, marketed, sold and repaired, AI won’t be creating anywhere near as many new types of jobs as the number it eliminates.

In my comms world, I first saw this coming in Yahoo! news articles maybe…
